During this fun STEAM camp, figure out what makes Science and Art work together, as you create Art using Science, and learn about the Science behind the Art. We'll make Spin Art, Bubble Art, Art using Scientific Tools like Pipettes, Art using the power of Nature, and even Chemistry Art! We'll explore Optical Illusions and how they work, learn how to spot a real masterpiece from a fake, and even make our own Art supplies! By the end of the week, your Junior Scientist will have an Art collection that would make Picasso proud!
Some themes we'll be exploring:
How does a camera work? What does a lens do? How do our eyes work? What is a camera obscura? How does film capture light and store an image? How did the idea of motion pictures start and how did early filmmakers figure out how to make images move? All these questions and more will be answered in this hands-on program wherein campers get to experience all aspects of photography.
How do forces and art work together? Can art be created with everyday materials? How can we make art that changes in heat, or out in the sun?
Please note that this camp is for Children entering 2nd-7th grade in the Fall.
